Empowering Families in Sderot with Mental Health Support
The Israel Magen Fund of Canada is delivering vital mental health and family therapy programs in Sderot to address the psychological impact of years of rocket fire and trauma.
At the Parenthood Home for Family Therapy, part of the Resilience Complex in Sderot, IMFoC supports initiatives to treat and prevent trauma while fostering emotional stability for families in this region.
Located less than a mile from Gaza, Sderot’s residents endure constant security threats, leaving many struggling with PTSD, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. The Parenthood Home provides families with therapy and guidance to help them navigate challenges like sleep disruptions, academic struggles, and coping with the ongoing security situation. Workshops and one-on-one sessions equip families with tools to build resilience, ensuring children grow up in supportive and nurturing environments.
IMFoC’s efforts focus on long-term care solutions for Sderot’s residents. These initiatives help families recover from immediate trauma and build stronger, more resilient futures, ensuring a brighter outlook for a community living under the shadow of conflict.
